The 53rd al-Da`i al-Mutlaq
The current, 53rd, Da`i al-Mutlaq is His Holiness Dr Syedna Mufaddal SaifuddinTUS.
Syedna Saifuddin is the second son of the late Dr Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA, the 52nd al-Da`i al Mutlaq, and grandson of the 51st al-Da`i al Mutlaq Dr Syedna Taher SaifuddinRA.
He was born on the 23rd of Ramadhan 1365, 20th August 1946 in Surat, India.
Giving the new-born's name, Syedna Taher Saifuddin wrote in Arabic, 'Aali Qadr Mufaddal 1365' meaning 'Lofty of Status'. 1365 is the gematrical value of the Arabic letters as well as being the year of his birth.
Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin became Da'i upon the passing of his father on the 16th of Rabi al Awwal 1435, 17th of January 2014.
The second son and fifth child of Syedna Mohammed BurhanuddinRA, he is married and has five children. His piety, devotion and loyalty to his father were well known and spoken of even prior to his appointment as successor. Syedna BurhanuddinRA had assigned him critical responsibilities including the restoration of al-Jaame' al-Anwar in Cairo, the revival of the community and historical mausoleums in Yemen, the rebuilding of the famed masjid of Syedna Abdeali SaifuddinRA in Surat and the leadership of the Arabic Academy Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah.
Today he follows in the footsteps of his father and nurtures the community as his father had. He has ensured that the loss of Syedna Mohammed BurhanuddinRA is not felt from a leadership and religious perspective, but at the same time, his memory is never forgotten.
Not a day has passed since his ascension as al-Da`i al-Mutlaq in which Syedna Mufaddal SaifuddinTUS has not remembered his father. Each time he recalls the late SyednaRA, his heartfelt words are spoken with such tender fondness and such sincere grief that they never fail to bring tears to those who listen.PREVIOUS
