Syedna saheb, Mumineen brothers and sisters. The 106 th birthday celebrations of the late Syedna saheb, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin are taking place and Aali Qadr Mola (Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin) is celebrating his own birthday on this same occasion.
The late Syedna saheb blessed me and truly the 53 rd Aali Qadr Mola appears exactly as he did; he reminds us instinctively of the 52 nd Syedna saheb because both are so alike.
The Dawoodi Bohra community is quite unique - the whole world has changed, but, I have long observed that - while all communities have changed - this Dawoodi Bohra community is one that has not changed. Their clothes haven’t changed, their rites and rituals haven’t changed, ladies wear ridas (traditional attire for ladies) and by that they are identified in public as daughters of the Dawoodi Bohras, gentlemen wear saya-kurta and topi (traditional attire for gents) marking them out distinctively as Bohras; but Syedna’s thought perspective was towards the future - accepting science, walking with the times, bringing change in the community. Again, not a change in clothes and not a change in traditions but the change in thoughts with science, modernisation and new technology.
Syedna’s efforts for the betterment of the community are a reason we all deeply respect him. Over time I have come to know that Syedna unceasingly guides his followers - in his many speeches and sermons - to be loyal to their motherland irrespective of wherever they may live. Along with this he promotes the environment, education, helping rural people, providing drinking water and calling towards all manner of betterment of society. Even during the procession today there was support of the ‘Swachh Bharat’ clean India drive championed by Sri Narendra bhai. Syedna has promoted cleanliness through guidelines in his sermons; all these for the good of society, the nation and the state – which Syedna saheb insists upon.
On this celebrated occasion and the marriages of your grandchildren I, on behalf of the 6.5 crore people of Gujarat, congratulate your family and wish you joyous nuptials. Aali Qadr mola, may you live long and always be a guide to society and the state of Gujarat and by your love and blessings may our state prosper greatly.
It is said that Khambaat is the birth place of the Bohras as it is with many communities. The Dawoodi Bohra community is one consisting of business men and it is a religious community which always lives with love and harmony. May it continue to achieve greatness with all fellow Gujaratis as Narendra bhai wants, “With all, progress for all”.
Once again on behalf of all of Gujarat I congratulate you. May you continue to contribute to the betterment of society and help everyone. On Syedna’s birthday celebration it is a matter of great pride for me to be invited and I thank you all. I invite Syedna to visit Gujarat frequently and on everyone’s behalf I invite him to visit other towns in Gujarat, as happiness follows him everywhere.
